I became part of the rich community of birth professionals of the Vancouver region in 2009 around the time I became pregnant with my third child. It only seemed natural to move from social service work, into doula work and childbirth education. My world was full with child rearing, and I was passionate. I have continued to pursue education and training within the field of supporting families in the child bearing stage. It makes me chuckle to list all of the tools I have taken of to be able to offer to families.
-Instructor with Douglas College Prenatal Program. I teach mainly to families in North Delta.
-Doula trained birth and postpartum doula, attending births since 2009.
-Member of the Doula Services Association of B.C.
-Became certified in pre and postpartum massage
-Trained with Full Circle Placenta Preparation
-Became a Birthing From Within Mentor with Dancing Star Birth
-Became an ACE certified personal trainer, including a Fit4Two Pregnancy and Postpartum Trainer
Central to my life are my own children. Had I not had my world completely rocked by their entry into mine, I would not be doing what I do today. I am a lover of the outdoors, including my garden. I am inspired by dance and my work with my body in the gym. I take to activism and using my voice for justice when I can. But mostly I am inspired by women and their courage and strength in the childbearing years and beyond. Working with families feeds my soul.
