You are in your last few weeks of pregnancy and are coming home from a busy day. Your feet ache, your back is hurting, and your whole body feels exhausted. The last place you want to go is out again to another appointment. Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to have a full body massage for relaxation in your own home, and then after, slip into a nice warm bath and bed?
The last few weeks and days, or even hours of pregnancy can be tricky, especially if there is pain in the body, and an intense desire to have the baby out! Research shows us that the best way to avoid unnecessary interventions is by letting the baby come out in his or her own time. Massage can be a pivotal ingredient to self care and baby care in the last moments of pregnancy to help manage stress, and make coping much easier as you let baby take the time he or she needs to fully develop.
Relaxation during labour is key to progression, and is included with any doula package.
Postpartum massage has been a traditional custom in many cultures for generations. The benefit of relaxation for mom in the postpartum ripples throughout the family, and is considered to be essential care in many Asian traditions. Of course travel outside of the home in these early days of baby’s arrival may be challenging or even undesirable, and therefore I am happy to be able to bring massage to your home.
I have been trained by the most wonderful massage therapist for pregnant women in the Lower Mainland, (perhaps the world!), Paula Jaspar. If you have a pregnancy condition that would benefit from a Registered Massage Therapist, then this is the wonderful woman you should be seeing. I was however wise enough to learn under her guidance, and gain her certification for pregnancy, labour and postpartum massage, (for relaxation purposes only). I am happy to bring my services to women in the perinatal period, and of course extend those services to everyone in the family.
